Cooler temperatures are rolling in around this part of the world with that amazing balmy fall (or autumn) feeling in the air. I couldn’t help but bring back 3 of my favorite Parsi food fall favorites; recipes that are perfect for this time of the year.
An all-weather special, this recipe really shines when the days get cooler. Try pairing Dhansak with Caramelized Basmati rice and Kachumber salad. While the authentic Parsi Dhansak features meat, my recipe works equally well sans chicken or mutton.
Everything you need to know to make Dhansak at home can be found in my post, ‘The Incredible Parsi Dhansak, Caramelized Basmati Rice and Kachumber Salad.’
And if you live around the SF Bay Area, the Dhansak meal will soon re-appear on my weekly menu on the Taro app.
An ideal blend of fall vegetables and a flavor mix that is simply unbeatable; makes this another fall favorite. While the Parsi cuisine doesn’t feature as many vegetarian dishes; (even the ones with vegetables generally have eggs layered over them) this stew certainly stands out in a class of its own.
The Parsi Ravo is comfort food and a sweet delight; all packed in one simple recipe. It’s often served in Parsi homes on special occasions.
With me, just having a bowl of Ravo in hand makes me feel like starting a celebration!
My family recipe for the Parsi Ravo can be found in the post, ‘Parsi Ravo: A Semolina and Date Pudding.’
Enjoy these fall favorites!
